Many of our customers and subscribers have told us that Toyota dealers have recommended that they only change the oil in their Toyota every 10,000 miles. When we posted our Latest Honda video, many of our Toyota fans also mentioned that the dealer said the same thing about their Toyota's CVT fluid. In this video, we explain the service intervals we use to keep our Toyota Camrys running for 200,...

Please make a video about the differences between CVTs and E-CVTs. I feel like the E-CVTs get lumped in with CVTs when they're (at least on paper) much better and less likely to fail.

Just got rid of my 2019 Honda HRV after having the 60000 mile transmission fluid change. I was at 61000 miles and was hearing a strong noise that would happen when accelerating from a stop. I took it back to the dealership that did the 60000 mile work to find out if I was crazy, and after they were done checking it out I was told that the transmission could be going out I was not happy to hear that at 61000 miles my transmission could be going out and to find out that the replacement would be between $7000-$10000. I now have a 2024 Toyota grand highlander hybrid with an E-cvt which is not even related to a cvt never again!

Uncomfortable conversations with customers can be avoided when they are prepared ahead of time what the outcomes can be. If you tell a customer ahead of time they will have to pay the shop rate for tear down if THEIR warranty company denies coverage then it isn’t an awkward conversation.

Instead of paying for a almost useless warranty, I would say that the consumer should just put that money into a high interest savings account. TYhat way when you car needs repairs, you will have the money to pay for it.

I like your videos. However, I can not agree with you on how Mazda is a better vehicle than Honda or Toyota. You have to compare brand vs. brand and year vs. year. For example, if you take a 2019 Mazda 3 and compare it to a 2019 Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla over 5 years of ownership and include oil changes, etc., and basic maintenance, then it would be a fair comparison. With all said, we have a 2019 Mazda 3 a 2023 Corolla, and a 2024 Civic Touring. The NON-CVT aspect is great, but still, they must be maintained. The Mazda is going in for a drain/fill on the transmission and while I would like to do it myself, the cost of doing it is so reasonable that I decided not to touch it. The first one is around 50,000 miles. Then moving forward, I will have it drained every 25,000 miles. Oil changes are every 6 months or around 6,000 miles. Honestly, Mazda's may be more reliable as I just purchased a 5-year/60,000 mile used MAZDA OEM Warranty from Werner Mazda. Ask for Katelyn Hansen as she is in that department. I will not get into the price, but it was well worth the money. The price was 60% of the warranty companies that advertise online and it is an OEM Warranty, no aftermarket, so no haggling on labor costs, etc. Regarding CVTs, I think Honda's CVT has it down to a science. But the real test is 10-15 years from now. I doubt the oldest will keep the Mazda past the next 5 years, but the Corolla and Civic should be here for 10-15 years. I have met drivers with 200,000 miles on their CVTs. The key is to change the fluid (drain/fill) every 30,000 miles on the CVT. Regular transmissions can be done at 60,000 and then every 25,000-30,000 afterward.

I only pay 100 dollar deductible each claim. If they find more wrong in the same diag I only pay 100 one time each time I used it

Did order a 2024 Rav4 LXE Primium but cancel after test driving 2022 Mazda CX 5, unlike the Rav4 loud as hell with it's Port injection ignition and super complicated electronics ! Naturally inspired 4 is as smooth and quiet then any 4 I've driven ! Further inclined to the CX5 after a 2 weeks rental for fix a windshield replacement leak !

For the viewer: "Parts Costs" are NOT actually the cost of parts obtained by repair shops. Those costs are either marked UP by the shop OR listed on invoices as the FULL cost of the part, which are then discounted for the repair shop; as they would get wholesale cost.

Both are suffering reliability issues. As you have stated, Gov't is forcing these issues vis MPG and emissions req'ts. Single word. TURBOCHARGERS. The allow for better A/F control as you are now regulating air as well as fuel. But, they add heat. Turbos on gas engines add lots of heat. I bought my mom's 2017 CRV based on Honda's past reputation. I change the oil much more often than recommended and am now trying 0-30 oil.

Although I'm very fond of CVT's, at least if it's not JATCO rubbish, I must say I'm only fond of it when used in a small car with a small engine just because it's less demanding of a CVT. Putting it in heavier and more powerful cars doesn't sound like something smart to do (unless it's the planetary gear type like Toyota uses). Most people also don't know how to drive a CVT. They tend to floor it like they would do with a traditional automatic while you just need to learn and feel when you are in the most ideal RPM region that will deliver the best power and torque to get you going. Of course it's also the car manufacturer that has to select or conceive the correct CVT according to the characteristics of the engine and not be lazy and just take an off the shelf unit that could fit the bill (yes you Nissan and Subaru).
